Sustainability
developments
At Ventry, as a design and build contractor, we recognise the responsibilities we hold to both reduce our own carbon footprint and to support our customers in reducing theirs by delivering sustainable developments.
To meet our future obligations we are working on developing our own sustainable practices through data capture, internal KPI setting and investment in training and our team.
We know our clients are also acutely aware of the drive for Carbon Zero Buildings by 2030 to meet ongoing commitments in line with the Paris Climate Change Agreement 2016 and we are in a position to support them through the introduction of sustainable design and construction solutions.
Primarily we support our clients through the delivery of BREEAM and Net Carbon Zero Reporting. We have extensive BREEAM experience, and our team working alongside preferred consultants, when required, can drive the process from beginning to end to deliver the desired BREEAM ratings in a timely and commercially viable way.
We are pleased to support our clients in the delivery of Net Carbon Zero. This can be through meeting the Construction Stage requirements by measuring the carbon utilised in the construction of a project and identifying practices and products which provide a reduction. Or if more support is required we can provide full Net Carbon Zero services working alongside preferred consultant partners if engaged early in the project.
SOCIAL VALUE
London Borough of Barking and Dagenham
During the course of an exciting week, the participants worked in teams to construct a number of wooden planters that will be donated to a local school as a social value contribution. As part of the experience, the trainees learnt how to use a number of different tools (hand and electrical), understand the principles of design / cost management and problem solving, whilst working safely in a construction environment.
At the end of the week the student teams and the finished planters were judged against a set criteria, the winning team being presented with an award by Dan Brister / Ben Snape of Ventry and Amanda Winder / Virgil Officer of Strive Development.
and contribute to a
sustainable future
Ventry is committed to creating social value through our business operations. We believe that by creating social value, we can help to build stronger, more resilient communities, and contribute to a sustainable future.
Whether conditioned by Planning or Section 106 requirements or not, every project has a Social Value Plan. This establishes how we:

Create job opportunities for local people. We work closely with local employment agencies and community organisations to identify potential candidates and provide them with the training and support they need to succeed.

Operate our sustainable procurement procedures to prioritise local procurement, providing opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses.

Engage with the local community, during the delivery stage of our projects, community engagement and consultation is key to successful outcomes. We work closely with local stakeholders to identify their needs and priorities, to support the building of positive relationships.

Charity and fundraising giving back to the community is an essential aspect of our social responsibility. We are committed to supporting charitable causes and fundraising efforts, and we encourage our employees to get involved in charitable activities that are important to them. We are also particularly keen to support local projects where the provision of our expertise, recourses and our teams time as well as financial contributions and provide the greatest benefits.
